FACILITIES AT BLAIRGOWRIE YACHT SQUADRON

About Blairgowrie and BYS

On Victoria’s Southern Mornington Peninsula you’ll find Blairgowrie, only a 75 – 90 minute drive from the Melbourne CBD.  The Southern Peninsula is one of Victoria’s leading holiday areas and is known for its clean sandy beaches, fantastic wineries and above all, excellent sailing.  Adjacent to famous Sorrento and Portsea, Blairgowrie is on a Peninsula that separates Port Phillip by just 2 kilometres from the surf beaches and Bass Strait.

And perhaps Blairgowrie’s most famous landmark is the Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron with our recently expanded marina and stunning new clubhouse all residing in an idyllic bayside location.  BYS is one of Victoria’s strongest and most vibrant clubs – yet remains relaxed and casual as you’d hope when you’re in a holiday area. The club is the second largest sailing club in Victoria, and hosts large fleets of off-the-beach dinghies and keelboats. Our sailing is generally in smooth waters which enjoy offshore sea-breezes during summer against a superb backdrop of the coast as it winds its way from the Sisters at Sorrento all the way around to Arthur’s Seat and beyond.  For over 65 years, the Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron has been a part of Blairgowrie, and for so many of our members, the club and the sailing is the focal point of their time on the Peninsula.

Blairgowrie’s facilities

Our clubhouse, opened in 2015 offers spacious indoor and outdoor deck areas with superb views over the bay and the surrounding coastline. The Petersville Regatta skippers and crews will be warmly welcomed to enjoy our facilities including the Racing Lounge and bar as well as the larger Southern Waters Room that serve a diverse food menu. The bar opens out onto the large deck with stunning 180-degree views that have proven to be a popular vantage point for all who visit the club.

Right in front of the club is our marina, the Blairgowrie Safe Boat Harbour. Built in 2001 and further extended in 2015, the marina provides a total of 340 berths as well as a hardstand and travel lift.

Of particular interest to our visitors are the 50+ Visitor Berths ranging from 8m to 20m in length and up to 3m draft, attracting visitors all year round.

Honorary member offering

All participants of the Petersville Regatta will receive an access card for the duration of their stay in the Blairgowrie Safe Boat Harbour.  This card will allow you access to the gated marina as well as to our laundry, shower and toilet facilities.
